Barbara Dopyera Daley, M.S.   It is so rewarding to link older  adults, families, and care providers together as we coordinate and plan for   emotional, physical, psychological, financial and social well being of older adults.    I strive to always act empathically and keep the goal of helping people attain the "best aging experience possible" at the core of my work.

This is an exciting time in history to be growing older due to technology, medical advances, and research and education.

Philosophy

  • Aging is a part of life and everyone  deserves to have the best aging experience possible.

  • Positive change can happen at any age!

  • As we design strategies for the older adult we must consider the caregiving circle of elder, family, and professional caregivers.

  • We can't always control what happens as we age, but  there are ways to have positive influences on the overall aging experience.

About

Barbara is a human service professional specializing in aging care, aging well, life course, teaching about aging well, and educating students and professionals about aging issues and planning for a life well lived.  Helping her own  parents age-in- place, while raising children has given Barbara first hand experience with  the pulls on the sandwich generation and the needs of older adults navigating aging.

Barbara earned a Master's of Science from the University of Buffalo.  A family situation required Barbara to focus time and energy on raising her children.  Barbara returned to college and earned a graduate certificate in gerontology from Syracuse University.  Recently Barbara has taught college level courses at Syracuse University in aging and design thinking processes.  Working with students is exciting because students are well positioned to make informed choices about their lives and careers that will have long-term positive impacts on their life trajectories and outcomes.
